Renovation of Fortress in Královice, Prague 22

The restoration of the cultural monument of the Fortress with its new use as a gallery was carried out in two phases as part of the overall reconstruction and completion of the historic courtyard in Královice.

In the first phase, the tower building was structurally secured and provided with a new roof covering made of natural slate. The second phase dealt with interior renovation and restoration work. The building has been left without major interventions, the aim is to preserve its historical appearance. The above-ground floors are used as gallery exhibition areas, the cellar of the fortress is used for wine storage.

In the interiors, the modern non-load-bearing partitions were demolished – the western wing remained free for exhibitions, the staircase in the eastern wing was restored, including the original railings.
